Privacy Policy

Effective October 24, 2026 · Operated by Steven Manson, 134 Claridge Court, North Chesterfield, VA 23235, USA · Contact: support@zelpa.fyi

This policy covers the Zelpa Discord bot. A separate policy will cover the Zelpa Personal app when it launches.

The short version

Zelpa summarizes conversations you ask it to summarize. Your messages, the files you submit, and the summaries themselves are never stored. They exist in memory only long enough to produce your summary, and then they are gone. What we do keep is small operational metadata — how much the service was used, by which server and account, and what it cost — so the service's limits and caps can work. That metadata never includes the content of any message, file, or summary.

What Zelpa processes, and what happens to it

When you run a Zelpa command, Zelpa reads the messages in the range you selected (or the file you submitted), sends that text to our AI provider (Anthropic) over an encrypted connection, receives a summary, and shows it to you. The text and the summary are held in memory only during that run and are not written to any database, disk, or log.

Personal files. If you submit a private file for summarization (for example, a personal document), it travels encrypted, is used only to produce your summary, and is never stored, never kept after the run, and never used for anything else. Zelpa's processing is not "end-to-end encrypted" in the strict sense — the Zelpa server necessarily sees the text briefly, in memory, to do its job — and we say so plainly rather than dressing it up. Files that Zelpa cannot read as plain text (scanned documents and images, spreadsheets, archives) are refused outright, in words, rather than processed some other way.

Our AI provider. Summarization is performed by Anthropic's API. Under Anthropic's published API terms, data submitted through the API is not used to train Anthropic's models. Anthropic's own privacy and data-handling terms apply to that processing.

What Zelpa stores (metadata only)

Zelpa's database contains no message content, no file content, and no summaries. It contains only:

Backups. The database described above (metadata only) is backed up daily; the newest 14 daily backups are kept, along with snapshots taken before updates. Backups exist so the service's limits and settings can be restored after a failure — there is never any content in them to restore, because content is never stored.

What Zelpa never does

Discord's role

Zelpa runs inside Discord. When you use Discord, Discord processes your messages under Discord's own privacy policy. Zelpa can only read messages in channels it has been given access to, and only when someone runs one of its commands. Server admins can block Zelpa from specific channels at any time, and any user can opt out of having their messages included in summaries.

Your choices

Opt out / opt in: the bot's opt-out command excludes your messages from summaries on that server; the opt-in command reverses it. Ask us: you may contact us at the address above to ask what metadata Zelpa holds that involves your account, or to ask for your usage and opt-out records to be deleted. Because Zelpa stores no content, there is no content to produce or delete.

Children

Zelpa is available only to Discord users who meet Discord's own minimum age requirements. We do not knowingly collect information from children below the age permitted by Discord's Terms of Service.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the new version will be posted at zelpa.fyi with a new effective date before it takes effect. Zelpa's never-store-content commitment is a design rule, not a policy preference; it will not be changed by a policy edit.

Governing terms

Use of Zelpa is also governed by the Zelpa Terms of Service. This policy is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA.
